WWDC 2011
June 20, 2011
The memories are still moist, the photos are still fresh and the stories are yet to be told. WWDC 2011 was packed full of amazing experiences. This is my second year attending, and I had more time to prepare. The biggest highlight may have been Tuesday Night. I was assigned the task from my employer Apperian to be the DJ for the companies third annual party, hosted at The Cartoon Art Museum. Over 500+ developers attend the event and enjoyed the venue. I received great vibes and responses from the crowd. It was a great success! Armed with my Canon 7D, My companions and I snapped some amazing photos of the events, San Francisco, Moscone Center, and the night life. We meet with very talented developers and was blessed with the privilege of hanging out with them all week long.
We orchestrated photo walks and hit up some really well known spots like the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park and the Japanese Tea Garden. Being relatively new to DSLR photography, I had a true hands-on gun+shoot experience in San Francisco. With so much to see and do, you bet there’s was barely a moment I didn’t have my 7D on me. I had some great first-time testing long exposures, time lapses, and light paintings.
Getting into all the sessions, reserving reviews, consulting with Apple engineers… I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to experience them all this year. Spending more time in the labs, there were more moments of collaborating with my team. Many attendees were new developers. The massive crowds and lines seemed a bit over exaggerated at times, and the senior developers felt a sort of push back. This year, I passed on pulling an “all-nighter” in the line for the keynote. I was content with the overflowed-overflow room. Heavy software improvements and refinements were the highlights of the keynote. Great announcements aside, my body was exhausted and tired. But rest assured, I was satisfied with devoting more of that time into photography.
My legs never felt so good from hurting so much. Being a native Floridian, I wasn’t used to the terrain or climate, but I endured miles of walking. I walked along side my creativity, and embraced the landscape. Capturing random bursts inspiration, we managed to snap well over 3,000+ photos. This year, I felt much more involved with WWDC2011 and San FranciscoI. I know my way around the bay and have a mental map of the area. I can still feel the breeze, hear the sounds of the city and smell freshness of the gardens and ocean. I can’t wait for 2012!
Big shout outs, appreciation and respect going out to Ben Stahlhood, Aaron Alexander, Mike Dasch, Gary Melendez, Jeremy Simkins, my brother Pedro and the whole Apperian crew. These guys were awesome and made sure we had a great time!! Thank you all!!
